September 25, 1920 ~ July 10, 2026
Born in:
Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Resided in:
Pueblo West, Colorado
Leora Elizabeth Adams, 105, was born on Sept. 25, 1920 in Murfreesboro, Tenn. to Pope and Hattie Garrett, the first of five children, and passed away on July 10, 2026.
The family resided in Murfreesboro until Pope Garrett moved them to Clarksville, Tenn. when Leora was a small child. They lived in Clarksville until Leora grew up and graduated high school. She attended Agricultural and Industrial State College. There she met her husband, Joseph Thomas Adams. They saw each other until he was drafted into the army during World War 2. They corresponded while he served in the army. He was wounded on Guadalcanal and was flown to Hawaii for surgery. He traveled to Tennessee when on recovery leave, where he and Leora married. She was 24 years old.
Afterwards, they traveled to California on the train where they were surprised by the end of the war in Europe. They arrived in California to live with Joe and Tiny Adams. They purchased the house on Hobart Street in Los Angeles, which was where they lived until they tore down the original house and built the one where Leora lived until she moved to Colorado when she was 86 years old.
She lived a long and beautiful life, having touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
