Lena J. Crosby, 85, a beautiful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away on March 7, 2004. She was born December 13, 1918, to Ed and Eunice Kyle, their second child. The family moved to Colorado from Kansas in 1925 and settled in Cañon City, Colorado. It was there that she met her husband of 63 years, Robert. Together they had two children, Leanna Crosby of Tucson, Arizona and Roger (Louise) Crosby of Littleton, Colorado. She is survived by her husband, children and two grandchildren, Amanda and David Crosby of Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edgar Kyle of Colorado Springs. Lena's kind and gentle ways toward family and friends, as well as anyone in need, made her endearing to all. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and to serving God through her work in the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Rebecca Circle. Lena's positive attitude and loving ways will always be an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. At her request, there will be no viewing. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at First United Methodist Church, 310 West 11th, with Reverend Dr. Rick Calhoun and Hospice Chaplain Melinda Baber officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Cañon City, Colorado. Contributions in her memory may be made to First United Methodist Church designated for United Methodist Women or the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, through the funeral home.
