Born in: Owensboro, Kentucky
Resided in: Colorado City, Colorado

Lee Richardson Jones was called by the angels on June 9, 2026, after a short illness. But Lee’s great adventurous life began in Owensboro, Kentucky, in a log cabin, which she was especially proud of telling anyone anytime someone asked where she was born.

Her parents, Robert and Bess Richardson, took her back to Michigan, where she grew up with her siblings, Gayle, June and Christine. There she grew up happy living a rural life, which even included a one room schoolhouse.

Once she started college she started to explore and travel with her then husband, Dallas Lemmon, and their baby girl, Lynn. They wandered the states for Dallas’ College education and the pure joy of seeing the great outdoors, especially the mountains of Colorado, the windy state of Wyoming.

She soon found herself living and working in Colorado with her second husband, Leonard Jones, and the arrival of children, Leslie, Chip, Loren and Lenda.

With family life taking much of her time she did find time to grow a great interest in antiquing and junking. She also enjoyed Bowling to a point of joining women leagues. She wasn’t much of a dog lover but she did love her cats, especially Siamese cats, she loved their blue eyes and special markings. Also found her way into politics, she first served as the secretary of the Colorado Wildlife Federation in the 1970s. Then she ran and won as Colorado state representative for District 49 of Boulder from 1977 to 1981.

During that timeframe she continued to explore the states even went to the Hawaiian Islands, which after some time she and Sherri, her partner, moved and lived on Maui for 10 years. At this point she found a new love in playing golf. She enjoyed the game so much that if she wasn’t working as an office manager for a solar panel business, you would find her either out on the ocean snorkeling or whale watching or on the golf course.

After Hawaii and the death of Sherri, Lee returned to Colorado, where she with help of her family and builders built a True Adobe house off the golf course in Colorado City. There she continued her hobbies, gardening and of course golfing. She also ran and won a seat on the Colorado City Metro Board District for two terms. She lived there with her wife Pat for over thirty years. She just loved the quiet activities that the world would bring her way. She especially loved the special trip in the mountains; they were always new for her no matter how many times she went through them.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bess Richardson; her brother, Gayle Richardson; her brother-in-law, Kayle Hinkle; her partner, Sherri; and her son, Leonard R. Jones, (Chip).

Lee is survived by wife, Pat; sisters, June Hinkle, and Christine Regan (John); her children, Lynn Lemmon-Oliver (Michael), Leslie Finn (Christopher), Loren Jones, and Lenda Jackson (Charlie). She also is survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she enjoyed watching grow and see them find their own way through life.

A memorial service will be held on July 17, 2026, at 11 AM in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel, 1317 N. Main, Pueblo, CO 81003. A gathering of Lee’s family and friends will be held afterwards.

A private scattering of the ashes will occur sometime later.
