Lawrence O. 'Rusty' Acord, 77, passed away April 21, 2004, in Pueblo, Colorado, after a lengthy illness. Survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Ann Gillespie of Rye, Colorado, Samuel Acord of Goosecreek, South Carolina, Esther (Royal) McFadden of Pueblo West and Patricia (Dan) Edwards of Mt. Sterling, Illinois; grandchildren, Logan Gillespie, Lucas McFadden, Sara (Jerry) Sanchez, Jennifer (Tim) Luthy, Michelle, Becky and Melanie Edwards; great-grandchildren, Dylan Desha and Jerry Sanchez, Jr.; and soon to be born great-grandchild; brothers, Fred (Emma), Tom, and Jack (Mary) Acord; sisters, Ann (Jim) Livingston and Mary McKibben; sisters-in-law, Esther (John) Taylor and Louise Burke; brothers-in-law, John (Loretta) Ayler, Baxter (Mary Lou) Ayler and Darrel (Rae) Ayler; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Rusty was born to Charles and Elvira Acord on June 29, 1926, in Fairfield, Illinois. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Rusty and Marjorie were married September 2, 1951, in La Junta, Colorado. He worked as a long-distance truck driver for many years, working for PST and Tri-State Trucking. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Reverend Steve Holcomb and Pastor Doug Cox officiating.
