Laurel C. Meade, 77, passed away November 16, 2003. Survived by his wife, Martha; children, Millicent of California, Marquitta of Colorado, Les of Indiana, Laurence of Ohio and Lance of California; and grandchildren, Matthew, Linda, David, Andy, Kristi, and Katie. Preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Caroline Meade. He is also survived by his sole brother, Byron J. Meade of Indiana. Laurel was born in Warren County, Indiana, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, and then graduated from Purdue University. He worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. as Sales Manager for Export Grains. In partnership with Dr. William Daniels, Mr. Meade was responsible for the installation of many of the natural turf systems in major stadiums throughout the U.S. He also owned and operated Meade Seed Company and Rocky Ford Popcorn Company. Laurel and Martha have been members of First United Methodist Church since moving to Pueblo 20 years ago. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Rick Calhoun officiating. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or a charity of choice through the funeral home.

  5. Mr. Meade was a wonderful person and our entire family will remember him and the time we spent getting to know him and his wonderful wife Martha.
