Laura Alice (Earles) Housman, 89 , ascended from this earthly plane in the early morning hours of June 4, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis, daughter, Nancy, brothers Herman and Howard Earles  and  brother-in- law and sister-in-law, Charles and Rebecca Housman. 

She is survived by sisters-in-law , Virginia Shaw (Dave) of Pueblo and Suzy Ruppert (Roger) of Las Vegas, NV,  niece and nephews,  Meg Shaw Skidmore (Wes)  David Shaw (Carolyn),  Jeff Shaw (Dacia) , Joshua Ruppert( Btissame) Michael Ruppert (Celine) , Jon Housman (Gloria), Bob Housman (Colleen) Brian Housman, Van Housman (Lori) and 20 great nieces and nephews and their families. 

She also leaves behind her niece and caregiver, Melonie Seal , caregiver, Michael Sheard and dear friends, Pam Yershin ,Barb Knowles and Bill Bewley. 

Alice was born and raised in Seminole OK and was a life-long proud Oklahoman and staunch OU fan.  She moved to Pueblo in 1959 to begin a long career teaching history and geography in District 60, initially at Corwin Junior High and then at Heaton Junior High until retirement in 1991.  She married her sweetheart Louis in 1962 and they shared 58 years of marriage until Louis’ passing in 2020. 

She enjoyed history, politics and college football. She was known for cultivating vibrant flower gardens in summer,  decorating for the Christmas season and baking multitudes of holiday cookies for family and friends. 

Thanks and gratitude to the staff of women at Primrose Assisted Living Retirement Center and Sangre de Cristo Hospice, who offered extra care and support during her final days.

  1. I was blessed to live next door to the Housmans , as a child. I would later see them as patients. Her gardens were legendary, Louis always wanted to discuss politics and history was always referenced!! They were the kindest people, and I’m so glad they are now all reunited with Nancy.. They were a fantastic couple, and I wish them all the peace in the world.
