Larry H. Hipp passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, after six long years of complications from
Covid. Larry was born February 12, 1954 in Pueblo, Colorado and was preceded in death by his
father, Roy L. Hipp, Sr.; his mother, Lucia Augustyn Hipp; brother, Roy L. Hipp, Jr.; sisters Esther
Dawson and Elizabeth Hipp; father-in-law, Willis Beich; nephew, Dustin Kirk; niece, Heidi Crosier;
great nephews, Luke Dawson, Danny Dawson and Mark Wilson; and his first wife, Dana Thompson.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy Hipp; children, Tracee Buecksler, Kristian (Renee) Buecksler;
grandchildren, Brody Moffit, Paiton Underwood, and Jace Buecksler; mother-in-law Elaine Beich;
sisters-in-law, Pam Kirk and Donna Hinders Hipp; brother-in-law, Jonathan (Jen) Beich; nieces,
Allison Kirk and Esme Beich; nephew, Elias Beich; great niece Ashlly Connors; great nephew, David
Connors (Kiya), and David, Mathew and Peter Dawson.
Larry’s father being in the Army meant living in multiple countries, including Panama and Germany.
Larry graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo in 1972. He served two tours in the Army
which included serving on the DMZ in Korea. Larry married Dana Thompson in 1978, but sadly, she
died from cancer when she was only 24 years old in 1985. Larry then met his “Honey”, the love of
his life, Nancy, in 1997 in Fort Lyon, Colorado, and married in 1999. He was a CNA at Ft. Lyon for
18 years and later went to nursing school in Pueblo. He got his LPN in 2003 and went back to the
VA. Larry said, almost every day, “I love my VA!”. Larry loved working for the VA, but unfortunately,
was forced to retire in 2020 as a result of Covid, which started his downward spiral.
Larry inherited his big heart and love of animals from his mama. His personal sanctuary at the time
of his death included numerous dogs and cats. His “favorite fur baby” was Joey, his teacup poodle.
They were all part of his family. Larry also loved his Broncos!
We would like to thank the staff of PFC James Dunn VA Clinic, Pueblo; PFC Floyd K. Lindstrom
Dept. of Veteran Affairs Clinic, Colorado Springs; Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center,
Denver; and Common Spirit Hospital Pueblo and Colorado Springs for their devoted love, support
and care. A very special thank you and love to his “Best Bud”, grandson, and private caregiver, Brody
Moffit, CNA; and Jason Trujillo, CNA for his assistance.
