Kathy L. 'Kat' (née Martin) Thomas, 56, of Pueblo West, passed May 7, 2009. Survived by her husband, Jerry Thomas; children, Sean Dressel of Aurora, Colo. and Chad (Nikki) Thomas of Pueblo; grandchildren, Sharae Dressel, Sean (Danielle) Dressel, Brenna Dressel and Joseph Thomas; siblings, Billy G. (Sandy) Martin of Pueblo and Patsy (Fred) Roberts of La Salle, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Charlene Fillmore, Beverly (Rick) Giadone and Terri (James) Wallace; nieces and nephews, Erik (Heather) Martin, John Marty Emory, Sherry Roberts, Jessica (Shaun) Garrett, Anna Wallace and Heidi Parks and children; and faithful companion, her Schnauzer, Cinnamon. Preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marie Martin; parents-in-law, Charles and Betty Thomas; grandson, Derick Thomas; nephew, Donald Roberts; and Schnauzer, Tasha. Kathleen was born in Pueblo on May 13, 1952. She graduated from South High School in 1970. She was a detention deputy and training officer for the Pueblo County Sheriff Department and later a correctional officer, sergeant and investigator for the Inspector General's Office of the Colorado Department of Corrections. Kathleen was active with her church group. She loved her kids and grandkids. She also loved to cook for family gatherings and dining out. She looked forward to a yearly trip to Estes Park. There will be no viewing. Service, 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Reverend Tom Foulk officiating. Interment will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens. The family respectfully requests the omission of food and flowers. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N.   5. My sincere sympathy in the loss of Kathy. You do not know me but I worked with Kathy back in the late 1980’s at the Sheriff’s Dept.

  6. Jerry, so sorry to hear about Kathy. I will always remember the fun times we had on and off duty at the Sheriff’s Department, she was a great friend to me during those times. I was so happy to have seen her the last time I was in Pueblo. She was a fighter, that girl. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  7. Wow, I just couldn’t believe when I saw Kathy’s obit in the paper. She was so sweet and kind I will always remember her smile when I worked with her in Pueblo, never a frown on her face, I will miss her!
