Kathryn Galves, 82, passed away May 29, 2019. Survived by her sisters, Shawnee Chambre (New York City), Terry Gehm (Long Island), Virginia Smith (Pueblo), and Anita Smith (San Fransisco); children, Victoria Galves (63, New York City), Ken Galves (62, San Diego) and Fred Galves (57, Sacramento); grandchildren, Angelica Osnes (29, Norway), Brenna Galves (29, Ft. Collins), Marie Galves (26, San Diego), and Julian Galves (24, Sacramento). Preceded in death by her father/mother, Anthony Smith and Andrea Guerrero; siblings, Ernest Smith, George Smith, Victoria Scappini. Kathryn was born Sept. 12, 1936, in Pueblo, Colo. She worked at Fashion Bar, Stage, Joslin's, and Dillard's—Sales Clerk 'Fashionista.' She enjoyed seeing and spending time visiting with family and friends; traveling, feeding her birds, gardening, jewelry and fashion; listening to jazz, Frank Sinatra and Billy Holiday, and Goat Hill Reunions. She was a devout Catholic and member of Mount Carmel and Holy Family Parishes. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial Mass, 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Mount Carmel Church, 421 Clark Street, Pueblo. Online condolences, www.montgomerysteward.com

  1. I have so many memories of Katy and my mom laughing and having fun together as I was a little girl going up in the blocks. Their friendship was a lesson learned. Please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences. Vicky, Freddy, and Kenny, I’m so sorry for your loss. I know she will be missed by many.

    You were a class act. Always dressed to the nines with the best accessories and those high heels! You will be missed by many. My condolences and love to Victoria, Kenny and Fred.

  4. I knew Kathy through our good friend Patty Kunze. I have known her for many years. We would be together at parties such as 4th of July, birthday’s, Christmas time,etc. She was always a very kind friend. She was always friendly and a compassionate person. I also knew her while I was a customer at Dillard’s. She was always helpful and professional. She was a great friend. I will miss her!!

    I read today that your beautiful mom had passed. I am so very sorry for your loss, she was an absolute wonderful person. When ever I would see her she always brought me up to date on you and your career. She was so very proud of you. And she would also say to me “I will tell Freddy I saw you”!

  6. Katie when you are received in Heaven, please say Hello to Ilo. He always talked so highly of you and I could understand why after I met you and got more acquainted with you. You always looked like you stepped out of a Fashion Magazine since you dressed so beautifully. May you Rest In Peace in the arms of a Loving Jesus Christ. God Bless You and I will miss seeing you out and about.

    IT WAS HARD TO HAVE TO BREAK THE NEWS TO BETTY SAVAGE WHO WAS A FORMER NEIGHBOR. KATHY KEPT IN TOUCH WITH BETTY AT HER BROOKDALE SENIOR LIVING AND WAS JUST A FEW DAYS BEFORE HER PASSING SHE VISIT BETTY. KATHY WAS A VERY DEAR FRIEND AND WOULD WATCH OVER HER WHEN SHE LIVED AT THE CONDOS. ALWAYS CALLING AND VISIT HER. BETTY WAS SO HAPPY AND MADE SURE SHE TELL NICK AND I (ROSALIE) GUESS WHO CAME TO VISIT ME? KATHY!! OR KATHY CALLED ME!!! BETTY WOULD BE SAD WHEN KATHY WOULD GO CALIFORNIA. I PERSONALLY WILL REMEMBER KATHY SO WELL DRESSED AND SO FRIENDLY AND NICE TO TALK TO. I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE OF KATHY AND BETTY FOR BETTY’S 80TH BIRTHDAY. THANK YOU KATHY FOR BEING WONDERFUL TO BETTY. REST IN PEACE . YOU WILL BE MISSED. MY CONDOLENCES FOR YOUR LOSS.

  9. Kenny, Vicky and Freddy, My deepest condolences to you and your family. Kathy and I worked together at Fashion Bar many years ago but have always remained good friends. She was a huge support and role model to me as a single parent. Her strength, kindness and wisdom were always an inspiration to me. I’m blessed to have had such a wonderful friend. Those Fashion Bar days were some of the best days of my life and I always loved reminiscing with your mom. Kathy will always have a special place in my heart. I will be on work travel so I cannot attend her memorial service. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
