Karen Annis McKean of Pueblo, Colo., born July 20, 1940, in Mankato, Minn., passed away Oct. 16, 2006, after a 1½ month illness. Karen graduated from Mapleton, Minnesota High School in 1959; and then Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1960. Most of her adult life was spent working as a nurse with Tri County Public Health, various hospitals and doctors' offices in the Denver area. After moving to Pueblo in 1999, she worked as an office nurse for Dr. Drake. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Elden and Ursula Annis of Mapleton. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 37 years, Bill, of the family home in Pueblo; daughter, Jennifer McKean of Colorado Springs; son, Jason McKean of Henderson, Colo.; and brother, Jim Annis of Mound, Minn. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Max. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 2561 Vinewood, with Pastor Mark Crates officiating.
