Born in: Marian, KS
Resided in: Pueblo, CO

One of the nicest people I know entered heaven’s gates this afternoon (Aug. 3, 2022).  Her name was Nita (Juanita) Hibpshman. She was my brother David’s wife of 25 years. David and Nita were a solid pair who loved being together. As one of their granddaughters put it, “you were a great husband to my grandma.”  And her grandma was a great wife to David.

For the last several years Nita has struggled with MS and also multiple myeloma. This week David, Nita, Heather, Frank and myself spent our days at a place called Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, Colorado. These were her final days here on earth and this wonderful place made it as easy on Nita and on us, as possible. When Nita took her last breath today the scripture that ran through my mind is the same one that I thought of at the death of both my mother and my mother-in-law.

Psa 116:12 What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits
toward me? [How can I repay Him for all His bountiful dealings?]
Psa 116:13  I will lift up the cup of salvation and
deliverance and call on the name of the Lord.
Psa 116:14  I will pay my vows to the Lord, yes,
in the presence of all His people.
Psa 116:15 Precious (important and no light matter)
in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (His
loving ones).   Psalm 116:12-15

Tonight, Nita is rejoicing with Jesus and embracing those who have gone before her including her own Mom and Dad, my Mom who she called her “mother-in-love”, our mutual friend Linda McDaniel Horn and so many more. It was my privilege and joy to know her these many years and my honor to be there when she transitioned from earth to heaven’s wonderful shore. There is a painting out there of a woman embracing Jesus with pure joy on her face. I am sure Nita was no longer limited physically and ran into His arms and I am sure there was pure joy on her face.

Guestbook

  1. Extending my deepest sympathy to you, David, and your family. I relished the times I spent with you and Nita and appreciated her wit and sharp mind and courage in coping with her health challenges. With the restrictions of Covid I missed our talks at Village Inn and at AU celebrations. May God bless you all.

  2. My thoughts and prayers go out to David, Heather and family. Nita always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She had such a strong faith in our Lord.

  3. We knew Juanita (and David) only recently, and briefly.
She was kind, generous and had a wonderful smile, even in the face of so much difficultly.
    They are a loving couple.
    Peace and love.
David (and Patti at Villa Pueblo)

  4. Nita was one of the nicest people. She will be missed. David, you and your family are in my prayers.

  5. It is with mixed emotions when one you love leaves us. Due to circumstances I had not been able to visit with Nita for a long time.
I Remember the first day at church when she and her children visited. That started a long friendship.
She was a very strong Christian and a very sweet, kind women.
My condolences and prayers go out to David, Heather and all of her family.
    Rest In Peace sweet friend..
