  2. I remember so many things about her and Uncle Tommy. It seems like they were always a part of our lives. My first memory of Tommy was in Fresno, CA. He bought me a pair of boxing gloves, which I was still using as a teenager, years later. Then we moved to Pueblo and lived with Tommy and Nini downtown. That was my first memory of her. Then, we moved to Baxter. I remember thinking I could outrun her on the playground, but she just laughed as she easily caught me and lifted me into her arms.

Then we moved back to Pueblo, and lived in three different houses with them! I remember so many things we shared, the laughter and the tears. She told me that Dad had passed away. I remember her voice as if it were yesterday.

Most of all I remember the times we talked. She was the first one to talk to me about God. She asked me if I prayed and if I accepted Jesus. ‘Douglasss,’ she said, ‘do you believe in Gawd,’ with her special tone of voice. I will miss you Nini. Say hi to Tommy. I love you both.
