Josephine was a lifelong resident of Pueblo, Colorado. Together with her husband and the love of her life, Tony Martellaro, she raised 6 children on their family farm. Her commitment to each one of them and her unending love for them will forever be cherished.
Josephine had a pure heart which touched an uncountable number of people who became lifelong friends. She greeted everyone with open arms and treated them as if they were her family. Her love was remarkable and shined through in everything she did. Her happiness, true heart and contagious smile was what you noticed the first time you met her and you would never forget the feeling of her enduring love when she would wrap her arms around you in a warm hug.
Josephine was employed by the Pueblo Army Depot, and Pueblo School District 70. She was a lifelong member of St Mary’s Church, she belonged to KSKJ, the Eagles, Sons of Italy, and WSA. She also supported many local events.
Josephine and Tony loved to dance and never let a good song get by them without joining in on the dance floor. Josephine and Tony loved to travel and made it a point to visit family wherever they were living during their many trips. Once retired they made multiple trips to Europe meeting family from other parts of the world. She loved seeing the sights and learning about new cultures. Josephine was a self-taught painter and has many beautiful paintings decorating their home. Being a creative person, she also enjoyed sewing and painting ceramics. Josephine spent countless hours tending to her garden growing everything from flowers to fruits and vegetables. She believed everyone needed to eat and was in her happiest place while cooking traditional foods like potica and strudels, which she shared with everyone.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Tony Martellaro; daughter, Jeanette (Pat) Jensen; daughter, Debbie Carleo; daughter, Chris (Tom) Martellaro-Ruth; son, Anthony (Brenda) Martellaro; daughter, Lisa (Paul) Bottini; son, Frank (Carey) Martellaro; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Louise Antrim and Dolores Morlang; and numerous nephews and nieces.
