Joseph A. Sloan, 90, passed away Feb. 16, 2010. Survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Mae Sloan; daughter, Linda (Mike) Roofe; sisters, Lucille Arthurs and Shirley (Gerald) Mathews; grandchildren, Branden (Jolynn) Miller, Scott (Amanda) Miller, Margaret (Jerry) Tvault and Robert (Lacy) Miller; and 14 great-grandchildren. Joe was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Oskaloosa, Mo., to Leroy and Pearl Sloan. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from C&W Railroad as a yardmaster. Joe loved camping, traveling and recreational vehicle riding. Member of Central Christian Church, BPO Elks #90, NARVE and VFW. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at Central Christian Church, 1902 N. Hudson Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Dave Chambers officiating.
