Jose S. Tafoya

Jose S. Tafoya, 95, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 12, 2016. Preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Tafoya; daughter, Gloria Romero; son-in-law, Sammy Romero; and companion, Maria Sally Gomez. Survived by his grandson, Sam Jr. (Chrisina) Romero; granddaughter, Marlene (Ron) Palumbo; brother, Steve (Vicky) Rains; sister-in-law, Isabel Sandoval; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jose retired from CF&I after 30+ years of service. He was a WWII Veteran who received a purple heart and other awards for his service. Viewing, 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at St. Leander Church, 6th and Monument, with reception at parish hall following burial.
