John E. Herzberger. Ernie unexpectedly went somewhere else on Aug. 7, 2011. He was a big guy in size and heart, affectionately called 'Mother' as an early member of the Dawn Patrol. Ernie was outgoing and helpful with a whistle and a friendly word. He told a good tale, often with a few embellishments. His family was his joy, and commercial salmon fishing in Alaska was his favorite time. Ernie's first career was as a teacher, then as a banker and in retirement he did substitute teaching. His wife is, Carolyn; daughter, Sherri Albern; son, Rob Herzberger; granddaughter, Kali Albern; son-in-law, Robert Albern; sister, Betty Proctor; son-in-law, Martin Moore; and tail-wagging Ozzy, best bud. A very informal remembrance will be between 7:15 p.m. and 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 at a favorite cafe, Rita's, 302 N. Grand. Ernie would have liked for donations to either Wet Mountain Wildlife, 743 Crestview Dr., Florence, CO 81226 or to www.missionwolf. No flowers of food.
