John Antonio Gash, 45, passed away Nov. 28, 2011. Born Oct. 22, 1966, in Pueblo. John served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps, was a Mason, a wonderful coach and retired as a correction officer for the Colo. Dept. of Correction. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Rose and Cecil Gash; uncle, Sonny; and brother, Tony. Survived by his parents, Sahara and Paul Maestas; sisters, Jacqueline Read, Lisa Sutton; brothers, Joshua Miles, Jerry Maestas; uncle, Antonio Dominguez; Justin Joe & Jarrett Read, Carolyn Bayless & family; Jeremiah Perez & family; Angelo Romero & family; many cherished nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues, and fellow servicemen. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Pastor Roman Ortiz officiating. Followed by military honors. Online condolences, www.montgomerysteward.com.

  20. Bub, you will be missed by many. You were a great influence and inspiration for me as I entered the Marine Corps 23 years ago. I always appreciated your friendship. As life continued for us all, you were always understanding and we certainly continued a level of mutual respect for each other. I enjoyed the many golf games and fishing trips over the years. I am sure you are surrounded by familiar faces now. Keep the fly-line tight! Semper Fi!
