John Antonio Gash, 45, passed away Nov. 28, 2011. Born Oct. 22, 1966, in Pueblo. John served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps, was a Mason, a wonderful coach and retired as a correction officer for the Colo. Dept. of Correction. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Rose and Cecil Gash; uncle, Sonny; and brother, Tony. Survived by his parents, Sahara and Paul Maestas; sisters, Jacqueline Read, Lisa Sutton; brothers, Joshua Miles, Jerry Maestas; uncle, Antonio Dominguez; Justin Joe & Jarrett Read, Carolyn Bayless & family; Jeremiah Perez & family; Angelo Romero & family; many cherished nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues, and fellow servicemen. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Pastor Roman Ortiz officiating. Followed by military honors. Online condolences, www.montgomerysteward.com.

And the crazy times we had growing up and the spankings we got for walking the river beds and staying out late at the movies. John I wish we had more time together to do that fishing trip.   20. Bub, you will be missed by many. You were a great influence and inspiration for me as I entered the Marine Corps 23 years ago. I always appreciated your friendship. As life continued for us all, you were always understanding and we certainly continued a level of mutual respect for each other. I enjoyed the many golf games and fishing trips over the years. I am sure you are surrounded by familiar faces now. Keep the fly-line tight! Semper Fi!
