Joan Marie (Stuedeman) Archuleta, 76, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Dec. 4, 2023. She was born in Flandreau, South Dakota to Ralph and Louise Stuedeman on April 20, 1947. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1965 and then attended South Dakota State University. While in residency in Pueblo, Colo. she met her loving husband, Ruben Archuleta. They married on June 27, 1969, and had three beautiful daughters. Joan was very active in her church. She was an accomplished weaver and enjoyed spending time in her picturesque garden.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ruben; daughters, Michelle (James) Strmiska, Sheryl (Dennis) Page, and Marie (Harley) Gifford; six grandchildren; sisters, Linda Olson and Janet Myers; and her bonus children whom she loved, Andres Handschy and Katya (Ryan) Anthony.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Freedom Calvary Chapel, 110 S. La Crosse Ave. Private family interment at Imperial Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, Joan’s family would appreciate donations made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice Community Care, 1920 Valley Drive, Pueblo, Colorado 81008

Their visit to Alaska is still talked about in our family. “Come on honey” Ruben said as they were trying to wade the Russian River. That phrase will be in our family forever. We miss her so much.
