Joan Lucille Holm Donley, 89, of Pueblo passed away on November 26, 2022, at University Park Care Center in Pueblo, Colorado. She was born June 23, 1933, in a farmhouse on Highway 50 between Rocky Ford and Swink, Colorado, and was the tenth and last child born to Jeppe Hansen Holm and Laurine Marie Jorgensen Holm, both of whom had immigrated from Denmark in 1901 and 1910, respectively.
She graduated from Swink High School in 1951 as the valedictorian of her class. After graduating, she worked as a bookkeeper for L and C Bookkeeping Service in La Junta, Colorado. In 1952, while attending the Colorado State Fair, she met her future husband Jack Thomas Donley whose family owned the Hyde Park Dairy in Pueblo. They wed on May 23, 1954, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, and were married nearly 30 years by the time of Jack’s death in April 1984.
Joan was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Pueblo where she volunteered and taught Bible classes and Sunday school for 13 years and served in its Session twice. She was also a long-time member and past president of P.E.O. Chapter BQ. Starting in 1984, Joan briefly worked at Becker, and Herrick CPAs, and then for 32 years at Rice Accounting. She retired in 2017.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Diane (Roger) Joyce of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Nancy (John) Roth of Pueblo; grandsons Kevin (Allie) Roth and Bryan (Megan) Roth of Golden; great-granddaughter JuniperBelle Roth; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.

Interment has taken place at Imperial Memorial Gardens. Memorial service to be held January 21 at 2 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 220 W. 10th St in Pueblo. Many years ago after church services they would have a informal gathering with snacks and beverages. Mrs. Donley knew I was interested in aircraft and told me stories of a relative who was with the flying tigers in China.
She was always a class act to me. Her daughters were very bright. I retired from the USAF and run a aircraft maintenance service.
