Jess 'Chuey' Olivas, 79, passed away May 13, 2010. Survived by his daughters, Hilda Olivas and Roseann Olivas; grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel) Anaya, Sarah (Mike) Martinez, Nick Olivas, Diana Anaya, Melanie Olivas and Jay Olivas; great-grandchildren, Isabel, Isaac and Cassandra Anaya, Cain, Marissa and Mariah Olivas, and Matthew Martinez; nieces and nephews, Isabel Martinez, Sonny Beruman, Patty Macaluso, Josephine Navarro, Steve Hijar, Margaret Gribble and Mary Rose Cleo; and friends, Tony Pacheco, Randy McKim, David Anaya and Jan Gilmore. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolina Olivas; daughter, Jessica; parents, Juan and Rosie (Contreras) Olivas; siblings, Phillis Baker, Ross Olivas, Carmen Hijar, Irene Sisneros and Tony Olivas. Jess was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Walsenburg, Colo. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was a longtime government employee. He loved his music, trains and fill-in word puzzles. Viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at St. Leander Parish, 6th and Monument, with the Rev. Fr.
