Jennie R. Alvarado, 98, passed away March 1, 2011. Survived by her children, Lucia (Rudy) Hernandez of Pueblo and Roberta (Martin) Medina of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Anita (Frank) Harlan, Dave (Nancy) Humphries, Andres (Deanna) Hernandez, Ines (Angelo) Perea and Christina Hernandez; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, Cirilo Alvarado; two sisters; and one brother.
Jennie was born to Selso and Maria Roque on June 12, 1912, in Durango, Mexico. She was very spiritual; a member of Cathedral of Sacred Heart and Virgen of Guadelupe at Mt. Carmel. Jennie enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, playing BINGO and gardening, especially her roses. She was also a great cook!
Friends and relatives may be received at the home of Lucia Hernandez.
Rosary, 6 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011, and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011, with the Rev. Father Mario Murillo as celebrant. Both services at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 11th and Grand Ave. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Online condolences, MontgomerySteward.com

Grandma, it’s been close to a month since you have left us…we are sad, but we understand that you were ready to be back together with grandpa once again.
