Jan M. Yates, 79, born on May 9, 1939, in Enid, Okla. and passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2019. Survived by husband, Dick Yates; daughter, Kelly Yates; son, J.D. Yates; and grandson, Trey Yates. Preceded in death by parents, George 'Doc' and Mercedes 'MiMi' (Cansler) Hutchison. Momma Jan was a caretaker of the family, and everyone in general, if it wasn't going to ball games or cheerleading, she was traveling and taking horses to the rodeo. The family was her entire life and she was theirs! Cremation has taken place, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Celebration of life, 5 p.m. April 6, 2019, at the Pueblo Convention Center, 320 Central Main. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to the Jan Yates Memorial Fund c/o Colorado Bank and Trust, 23051 E. U.S. Hwy 50, Pueblo, CO 81006. ATTENTION: The Courtyard at Marriott has agreed to discount room rates for the service. Just tell them you're with the Yates family.

  10. One of the kindest people I’ve ever met in my lifetime. We should all aspire to be as kind as Miss Jan. She touched the lives of thousands with her love of family and friends and the commitment to her life.

I know y’all are strong, and will get through this, but, I still pray for y’all everyday to make it easier. Life goes on, and its the hardest for us left on this earth to deal with it everyday. I know on a personal note that I consider myself one of the lucky ones who had the privilege to have known her. I will never forget her insisting on serving me dinner one time as I was leaving their place with a horse back to Missouri. The best beans and cornbread ever.

Jan and family always made me feel welcome at the ranch, I will forever hold my memories close for riding and jumping on the trampoline in the backyard thanks for all the fun memories and the kind friendship over the years!   40. We are sorry to here about Jan our son worked for the yates family for a couple of years. Every time we visited Jan and Dick treated us like family. They are truly a great family and good people.
