Jan M. Yates, 79, born on May 9, 1939, in Enid, Okla. and passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2019. Survived by husband, Dick Yates; daughter, Kelly Yates; son, J.D. Yates; and grandson, Trey Yates. Preceded in death by parents, George 'Doc' and Mercedes 'MiMi' (Cansler) Hutchison. Momma Jan was a caretaker of the family, and everyone in general, if it wasn't going to ball games or cheerleading, she was traveling and taking horses to the rodeo. The family was her entire life and she was theirs! Cremation has taken place, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Celebration of life, 5 p.m. April 6, 2019, at the Pueblo Convention Center, 320 Central Main. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to the Jan Yates Memorial Fund c/o Colorado Bank and Trust, 23051 E. U.S. Hwy 50, Pueblo, CO 81006.

We are so sorry for the loss of our dear friend, Jan. We admired her strength, beauty, and devotion to her family. We shared many laughs along the way and I was honored to be her dentist. May God bless you all and give you comfort as you grieve her loss.

Losing Jan will leave a huge hole in the lives of her amazing family, but she will be missed and thought about by so many people she has touched. I sit here and think of her smile and her laugh. So sorry to hear of this great loss to the Yates Family. I know she will be greatly missed. I know on a personal note that I consider myself one of the lucky ones who had the privilege to have known her. I will never forget her insisting on serving me dinner one time as I was leaving their place with a horse back to Missouri. The best beans and cornbread ever.

We are sorry to here about Jan our son worked for the yates family for a couple of years. Every time we visited Jan and Dick treated us like family. They are truly a great family and good people.
Dick, J D, Kelly and Trey, We have a heavy heart, always really liked Jan, always appreciated things she done! She was a true rodeo mom, always had a story to tell me. She will be truly missed, and never forgotten.

I enjoyed all my time visiting with Momma Jan at tons of events over the years, as she going to be missed by so many people, as well as her family. I am so sorry that we won’t be able to make Jan‘s celebration of life. With the busy market in Las Vegas, we have to stay here and take care.
