James L. 'Jim' Rogers, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 28, 2014. Survived by his wife, Kathy A. (Postlewait) Rogers; children, Joe (Connie) Rogers, Scott (Jan) Rogers, Daniel (Cheri) Rogers, Terri Phillips, Gordon (Kathy) Rogers, Bill Rogers, Lynette Rogers and Larryn Rogers; stepchildren, Scott (Sheila) Lewis, Rebecca (Jason) Grider and Robert Valdez; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Ford and Ardith Rogers.
Jim was born to Donald and Gladys Rogers on July 2, 1935, in Longmont, Colo. He worked as a diesel mechanic for 40 years. He taught Sunday School and was Junior Church Pastor for 22 years at Temple Baptist and later taught Sunday School at Rocky Mountain Baptist.
Viewing, 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday upstairs at Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Rocky Mountain Baptist Church, 2901 O'Neal Ave., with Pastor Gordon Rogers officiating. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. My prayers are with the family at this time. I met Uncle Jimmy as I knew him from his niece Cindy Drassen years ago. He was a very nice man and I always enjoyed his company. I know he is with his sisters now in Heaven and pain free. God Bless the family.
