James L. McHenry, 53, passed away April 15, 2011. Survived by his wife of 30 years, Teresa McHenry; siblings, Larry McHenry of Denver, Mary 'Sis' (Mark) Carmel of Pueblo West and Jeff (Veronica) McHenry of Aldie, Va.; stepbrother, Lyle (Michelle) Burch; sister-in-law, Leslie Edens; brothers-in-law, Jim Edens and David Melonas; parents-in-law, Bill and Barbara Melonas of Pueblo; stepfather, Walter Burch of Colorado Springs; nephews and nieces, Craig, Corinne, Dylan and David McHenry, Adam and Bryan Carmel, Candice (Jason) Kukulski and Stephen Edens (Ashley Heaney); two grandnieces; one grandnephew; and beloved pets. Preceded in death by his parents, Iona Burch and Paul McHenry. James was born July 6, 1957, in Springfield, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army and worked 18 years as a correctional officer for the Colorado Department Of Corrections. He enjoyed rafting and the great outdoors. He also was a published poet under the pen name, Mickey Pig Knuckles. Viewing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Service, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Ben Bacino officiating. Flag presentation by Colorado DOC Honor Guard.     We would just like you to know that Jim was a very respected and admired man. He positively touched many lives and was a great friend to all who knew him! One of Sam’s favorite memories was when Jim would come to visit and share his poetry and talk with him about our Lord and share his life with him. Jim would go above and beyond his call of duty to be an amazing friend and brother in Christ. It was on honor to have known him and he will be dearly missed! We are sorry for your loss and you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Take care.
