James H. 'Jim' Schaeffer, 83, departed on July 9, 2011. Born May 2, 1928, in De Beque, Colo. Preceded in death by 'kid' sister, Edythe L Kelly. Survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marion; children, Tom (Sharon) Schaeffer-Irion, James Schaeffer-Irion, both of San Diego, Calif., Dennis (Laurie) Schaeffer of Kenai, Alaska, Peggy (John) Hancock of Pueblo, Jerry Humphreys of Dallas, Texas, and Mary (Chris) Porter of Colorado City; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Nieces and nephews. Jim served in the US Navy and was the Weatherman for KOAA-TV in the 1970's. No longer the Weatherman, Jim continued as Sales Manager until leaving to join the sales staff at KKTV. He enjoyed boating, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, flying and spending time with family. He was a longtime member of the Optimist Club. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. There will be a celebration of Jim's life, 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, Ascension Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 420 W. 18th Street. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Joni Fair Hospice House, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005 or Alzheimer's Association, 4104 Outlook Blvd., Bldg. B, Pueblo, CO 81008.   2. So sad. Jim was a hero and one heck of a man. Loved being with him on our annual fishing trips and Tommie thinks he was funnier that Jerry Lewis.

  3. Dear Aunt Marion, Peggy, Mary & Jerry. I am so sorry for your loss and I will miss Uncle Jim so much! I have so many wonderful memories of him, so many boat trips on Pueblo Res!, 4 wheeling trips to many parts of Colorado. All of us went to the Great Sand Dunes, it was my first time there! He was such an adventurous man! He had his funny little Chihuahua “Sassy”! But my favorite memory of all…Christmas day he took all of us kids to the tv station and put us on air!! My Uncle Jim was a big celeberity in my eyes! I loved him!
