James Galbraith Armstrong

James 'Jim' Galbraith Armstrong, born Aug. 4, 1929, in Eastland, Texas, to Mary Lee Galbraith and James Miller Armstrong. Married Nov. 25, 1953, to Bessie (Elizabeth) Jackson. Attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Jim was first and foremost a cowboy and rancher. He began his career in the mid-1940s working on the Mcalpine Ranch in Huerfano County, Colo. In 1950, he relocated to Watrous, N. M. where he owned a cow/calf operation. In 1962, he moved to Monte Vista, Colo. where he ranched for over twenty years before moving to Pueblo and running a ranch operation in Pueblo County. He was a strong supporter of the military and a patriotic American. Jim was a quiet man, but confident in his word and deed, and always in charge. Preceded in death by his loving spouse, Bessie and his son, James Thomas 'Tom' Armstrong. Survived by his children, Jackson (Susan) Armstrong, Stephen L. Armstrong; daughter-in-law, Mary Yergert; grandchildren, Malinda (Chris) Matthew, J.W. Armstrong, Cambria Armstrong, Jackson Ryan Armstrong and Travis Armstrong and great-grandchildren, Luke Armstrong, Jentry Matthew and Aislin Matthew.
