James A. Artz, 74, passed away March 21, 2006, in Pueblo, Colo. Preceded in death by his wives, Lillian Anne Artz and Virgy L. Kohrt Swain Artz. Survived by his stepdaughters, Lenore 'Charlene' (Laurence) Goetz and Mariem A. Lenfest, both of Pueblo; sister, Virginia Hintz of Fond Du Lac, Wisc.; brother, William Artz of Two Rivers, Wisc.; grandchildren, Michael (Adrienne) Goetz of Pueblo West, John A. Goetz of Alamosa, Paul J. Goetz of Florence, Jeff Scovil of Pueblo, Charles Scovil and Jennifer Scovil, both of Kiowa, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Marcus A. Goetz, Michelle and Megan Scovil; great-great grandchild, Joseph; numerous nieces and nephews in Wisconsin. James was born to John and Sarah Artz July 4, 1931, in Manitowoc, Wisc. He was career military serving in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed rug making, cooking and baking, especially bread and pizzelles. Jim received much joy in sharing his baked goodies with friends and relatives who in turn appreciated receiving them. He also donated his baked goods to Susan Komen Breast Cancer Research fund-raisers. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2006, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Chaplain Melinda Baber officiating. Full military honors by Fort Carson Mountain Post Honor Guard and interment will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Sangre di Cristo Hospice, through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St. Pueblo, Colo. 81003.
