Resided in: Pueblo, CO

Jacqueline Ann (Horvat) Simms transitioned Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Adored by her husband, Bill K. Simms, now deceased; and her nine children; Scott (Maureen) Simms of Denver, Pamela Valentine (Tony Licwinko) of Vail, Stryder (Phoenix) Simms of Santa Fe, NM, Tom Simms of Pueblo, Tim Simms of Pueblo, Lise Simms (Terry Rhoads) of Los Angeles, CA, Jane (Scott) Roche of Boulder, Joan (David) Hess of New York, NY, and Snow Simms (Bill Wallen) of Aspen. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kelsey and Harper Simms, Danielle (Evan) Carey and Gabrielle Venturi, Matt and Mike Simms, Sarah and Tony Rhoads, and Katie and Kelly Roche. Jacque was born August 16, 1930, in Pueblo, to Josephine (Kastelic) and Joseph Horvat. She had one brother, the late Robert Joseph Horvat whom she dearly loved. She graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School at age 16 and from Loretto Heights College in Denver at age 18 with a degree in Medical Technology. She interned in Salt Lake City and returned to Pueblo to work in the lab at St. Mary Corwin Hospital. It is no surprise she was pinned and engaged to a few men, but none courted her like her future husband, Bill. Jacque and Bill went out dancing every night the first six months they dated. Jacque loved dancing and was a natural. She also had a beautiful voice that carried through her life. She was an accomplished pianist and played her baby grand piano while lulling her children to sleep. Those that knew her witnessed someone serenely non-judgmental and wise. She may have been an angel. We, the nine grateful children and ten adored grandchildren, wish to publicly thank our parents for raising us with such tender love and respect. We are fortunate to have been the beneficiaries of mother's extraordinary grace, courage and commitment. Her unconditional love will nourish our hearts forever. It was her gift to all. A life celebration of Jacque will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012. Tributes begin at 1 p.m. with reception to follow. Please note this is a compulsory event for Slovenian relatives. Rendezvous Room at Primrose Retirement Community, 5055 Outlook Blvd.

  1. Dear Simms Family,
I want to extend my sincere sympathy at the loss of your mother. Both your parents welcomed me into your home many times. I can always remember a lot of laughs each time I was over to see Pam. Your mom was an amzaing lady. She had such a positive outlook on everything!

  2. In loving memory of our dear Jackie! We love you very much! We are blessed to know you and your family. The moments we spent together will always remain in our hearts and you will stay in our prayers and thoughts.

  3. Dear Jackie,

You remain in our hearts and prayers! We love you very much and we will continue to love your family as much as we love you! You will always stay in our loving memory.
