Jackie Miller was resilient, strong, determined and courageous. Raised in Osawatomie, Kansas by parents Ike and Mary McMahon, she came west to enter the St. Mary-Corwin School of Nursing, graduating in the class of 1965. While she
was a student nurse she met her future husband, Jerry. She worked as an RN for 40 years, being employed by St. Mary-Corwin Hospital, Denver General, Penrose and Parkview. She was the mother of children Suzanne and Mike Miller, who
learned compassion and kindness from her. She loved life, birds, and Democrats.

Life threw many challenges at her, but rather than allowing those challenges to keep her down, she rose up stronger. Six months after her above-the-knee amputation she was on the beach in Mexico with her new prosthesis. She was fearless. With Jerry as the pilot, for fifteen years she cheerfully rode the back seat of a tandem bike for an incredible 14,000 miles. Always loving exercise, Jackie would shed her prosthesis and get into pools for water aerobics. She limped onto planes over a hundred times, and somehow managed the tiny bathrooms. She continued working as a nurse for several years after her amputation. She was gentle, but she had grit. Jackie loved and was proud of her children and always kept their best interests in her heart. She was nurturing and lent her strong guiding hand while letting them make their own decisions. Her love and guidance were instrumental in developing her children into the adults they became. Jackie followed the lives of her children and grandchildren with intense focus and was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Jackie Miller is survived by the family she loved and who loved her, husband Jerry, children Suzanne and Mike (Julie) Miller, grandchildren Jake, Andrea and Vincent Hough, Cole, Molly and Luke Miller, and great-grandson Henry Miller.

Thanks to her caregiver Reina, and all the staff at Sangre de Christo Hospice, especially nurses Bree and Ashley, CNAs Bea  and Valerie, Social Worker Jean, and speech therapist Valerie. Their care and kindness will not be forgotten.
Memorial Service, Saturday, October 17, 2026, 11:00am-1:00pm, in the Montgomery & Steward Banquet Hall.
