Jack Anthony Datz, Sr., 77, passed from his earthly home into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Aug. 7, 2013. Born Dec. 17, 1935 to Jack and Mary Datz, who preceded him in death. Jack was a lifelong resident of Pueblo. He was a standout athlete at Pueblo Catholic High, Pueblo Junior College and Western State College. As a teacher in School District 60 for thirty years and a parochial league coach, he influenced countless lives in the Pueblo community. Jack is survived by wife, Sylvia Ann Datz; sons, David (Michaela) Datz of Loveland, and Jack (Audre) Datz of Naperville, Ill. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Madison Ann, Alexandra Elizabeth and Austin Anthony; sisters-in-law, Patty Corsentino and Lucille (George) Krasovec of Littleton; beloved nieces and nephews; numerous cousins from the Pugel and Datz families; special cousin, Sam Dazzio; longtime friends, Joe Miller and Leroy Snook. Jack's family expresses grateful appreciation to helpful friend Dave Vallejos whose selfless energy brought fun and laughter to his daily life. Jack touched the lives of many people with his charismatic style, trademark sense of humor, everlasting knack for making people laugh and his unmatched generosity. Jack loved being with his family. His kind words in every birthday and holiday card were always underlined with love. His family room was decorated with family photos from ceiling to floor. His always present sense of humor, support, generosity and kindness will be missed and never forgotten. Highlights in life were his children, grandchildren, having laughs with friends and watching sports. With Jack's passing the Broncos and the Thunderwolves lost one of their biggest fans and his family lost theirs too. Family will receive friends during the viewing from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, at Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Church, 307 E. Mesa Ave. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made in memory of Jack Datz to Friends of Football, Southern Colorado Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1432, Pueblo, CO 81002.
