Helen Gibson

Helen (Sopel) Gibson, 85, passed away September 4, 2001. Born April 15, 1916, in Pueblo and was a lifetime resident. Beloved wife of Richard G. Gibson. Survivors include her devoted children, Paul Sopel, Margo (John) Kunkel, Kenneth ( JoLana) Sopel; stepchildren, Robert Gibson and Karen (Lee) Story. Also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Emma Huffman, Denver, and Marge (Gene) Harrington, Pueblo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Ruhamah Temple #71 Daughters of the Nile. Helen loved teaching swimming at the Steel Works Y.M.C.A. and was one of the first swimming teachers when the City Park Pool was built. She has requested no viewing nor services. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Please omit food and flowers. Remembrances may be made in her memory to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital Transportation Fund through the funeral home.
