Helen E. Bowman-Dorrance, 84, born March 11, 1921, in Walsenburg, Colo. passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, in Pueblo, Colo. Survived by her children, Richard Bowman of Denver, Nick (Angie) Bowman of Denver, Jerald Bowman of Pueblo, Evangeline (Michael) Mondragon of Espanola, N.M. and Valerie (Arthur) Torres of Albuquerque, N.M.; siblings, Louie Tobin and Cora Romero; 24 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Bowman in 1963 and Gilbert Dorrance in 1970; son, Paul Bowman; and siblings, Grace Rael and Paul Redcloud. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 11th and Grand, with the Reverend Father Ron Roche as celebrant. It’s always sadden me to know that my father(Paul) and grandmother were never a part of my life. I am glad to hear that she was a part of the other grandchildren and great grandchildren lives. To bad my children will never know the Bowman side of the family. Sorry for your loss!
For the children and family of Helen: I am the oldest grandchild of Gilbert. As I turned the pages of the newspaper Saturday morning, I was sad to learn of Helen’s passing. I do remember her from my childhood as a boy of 4&5 years of age when she cared for my grandfather up until he passed away. I remember her as a very kind and caring woman. I was very close to my grandfather when he was alive, and his passing was a very difficult time for me just as I am sure Helen’s passing must be very hard for all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
