Helen A. Porter, 85, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 18, 2017. Helen was born April 30, 1931, in Florence, Colo., to Frederick and Eleanor Huppert. She married Preston 'Ray' Porter on Aug. 14, 1955. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Freda Hood; and brothers-in-law, Chuck Hood and James Evans. Survived by her daughters, Linda Rae (Jerry) Russell and Denise Lynne Thacker; grandchildren, Justin Russell (special friend, Nicole Krempa), Jared Russell (special friend, Helena Thatcher) and Michelle Thacker; sister, Eloise Evans; numerous nieces and nephews of the Porter, Hood and Evans families. Helen was first and foremost a wife, mother and grandmother. She was an advocate for her grandchildren and supported them in their every endeavor. Helen was musically talented and enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and cheered for them faithfully. She was Supreme Inspector in Colorado for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Helen was a charter member of Adriance United Methodist Church. She was a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord and displayed that love in every aspect of her life. Viewing, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral service, 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Pueblo Christian Center, 1605 S. Pueblo Blvd., with Pastor Josh Richardson officiating. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial may be made to St. Mary Corwin Health Foundation in support of the Dorcy Cancer Center @ smcfnd.org or The Thin Blue Line National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund @ nleomf.org.
