Harrel Cross, 84, passed away February 14, 2002, in Pueblo, Colorado. Survived by his wife of
32 years, Jo Alma Cross, of the family home; sons,
Lawson (Julie) Cross, LaBelle, Florida and Crawford (Marsha ) Cross, Hineville, Georgia; stepson, William (Nancy ) Nickell, Colorado
City; stepdaughter, Treesa (Edmund) Francis, Pueblo; sisters, Jewell Hatchcox, Gainesville,
Florida, Lora Mae Gerstman and Doris (Jimmy) Dara, both of LaBelle, Florida and Fern
(Thurston) Townsend, Kingston, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 6 step-
grandchildren. Preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon, Rhonel and Herbert Cross and 1 granddaughter. Harrel was born to Ben and Lillian
Cross on November 29, 1917, in N. LaBelle, Florida. Harrel served his country in the U.S.
Army-Air Corps during WWII. Harrel was a farmer and rancher for 62 years, until retiring 1988. He was a member of LaBelle Florida Church of God. He
will lie in state at the funeral home Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2002, in the Montgomery
& Steward Chapel. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Colorado City Cemetery, in Colorado City.
