Grover Richard 'Dick' Goodwin Jr., 99, born to Grover and Velma Goodwin in Paducah, Texas, lived for 99 years before passing away July 10, 2013. He is survived by his children, Gary (Elaine) Goodwin of Alamosa and Joann (Randy) Smith of Pueblo; grandchildren, Karron (Chad) Heaton of Colorado Springs, Gaylene Horning and Greg (Jeni) Goodwin, both of Alamosa, and Andy (Kristi) Smith of Windsor; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Garrett Horning, Hunter and Bailey Jack, Juliana and Allegra Smith, and Brooke Heaton; sister-in-law, Eileen Matott; nephews, Rusty Ross, Tom and David Matott. After a 71 year marriage, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Edna Mae; his parents; sister, Mary Louie Ann Goodwin Ross; brother, Tom Dave; and a granddaughter. Dick was a longtime member of Parkhill Baptist Church having given his life to the Lord at an early age. He was engaged in farming and ranching most of his life in Baca, Fremont and Pueblo counties. He owned and operated the 4th Street Auto Sales and Everybody's Grocery Store on Jones Avenue. He retired in the 1970s when he and Edna Mae enjoyed traveling and spending time with their kids and grandkids. A very special thanks to the staff at the Joni Fair Hospice Home for their tender loving care! Viewing, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service, 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, both at Montgomery & Steward Funeral Home. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. His sense of humor and his stories were always welcome. I know from talkiing to him that his family and GOD were very important to him.
