Resided in: Pueblo West, Colorado

Grace Mary Phillips, 95, passed away June 22, 2018. Survived by her husband of nearly 74 years, Fred Phillips; 4 children; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters. Grace was born to Clarence & Leona Lau on May 28,1923, in Curtice, Ohio. Grace primarily worked as a wife and mother, raising her four children with a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to tending to four children, she worked for many years as a caregiver in a nursing home, often bringing home one of the residents to share a holiday dinner. After her children were grown, she held a job at a bank and then worked alongside her husband in the prison ministry upon his retirement. She was not one to let her hands sit idle. She had a quiet creativity that was reflected in her day to day life. She loved to garden and made sure that every place she lived had a yard full of flowers. She played the piano at the chapels, missions and at home. She sewed beautiful clothing, curtains and household decorations. Her natural talent for color and design was best displayed in her crocheting, creating gorgeous afghans, blankets, baby clothes, pillow covers, lacey tablecloths and doilies. She enjoyed redecorating, refinishing furniture and making ceramics. In her later years, she spent much of her time reading, listening to music and visiting with friends and family. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Private interment, Mountain View Cemetery.
