Gertrude W. Shaver, 91, born Feb. 14, 1921, in Pueblo, passed away June 11, 2012. Survived by her children, Les (Dianne) Shaver and Lynn Shaver; grandsons, Matt Shaver and Seth (Stephanie) Shaver; great-granddaughters, Abby and Sophia Shaver; and nephews, Del Bussey and Robert K. Burns. Preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Shaver; parents, Robert and Ida Burns; siblings, Viola Johnson, Pauline Bussey and Bob Burns; and great-granddaughter, Autumn Shaver. Gertrude and Oscar were loving and devoted partners for 38 years before his death in 1980. Together they raised two children, giving them numerous enriching experiences guided by their unconditional love. Gertrude continued caring and providing for Lynn, their 'special' daughter, many years after Oscar's death. She dearly loved her two grandsons and continued to carry that love onto her great-granddaughters, who knew her as 'Grandma Gerdie.' Gertrude was both state and local Commander of DAV Auxiliary of Colorado in the mid 1950s. She and Oscar had matching motorcycles and enjoyed many hours of riding throughout the state of Colorado. Gertrude was an avid bowler. At the age of 80, she was bowling on six leagues and was secretary of four. Her favorite seasons were spring and summer, when she could follow her passion of tending to her lawn and flower garden. One of her greatest joys was to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature. Viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, and the funeral service, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, both in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery.
