George J. Ragsdale, 85, passed away Friday, March 17, 2000, in Pueblo, Colorado. Predeceased by his
parents, Jack and Bertha (née Skinner) Ragsdale. Survived by his wife, Frances (née Whitaker)
Ragsdale; brother, David (Margaret) Ragsdale of Olney Springs,Colo.; nephew, David A. (Sheryl) Ragsdale of Crowley, Colorado; and nieces,
Carolyn and Marilyn Ragsdale of Pueblo. Born July 9, 1914, in Missouri and was raised in Colorado on the Ragsdale ranch near Olney
Springs until August 1942, when he entered the Army during World War II. He was wounded on Omaha Beach and received the Purple Heart. He
was discharged in 1945 from the Military Police. He and his wife Frances were married in 1946 in
Oklahoma. George was an overhead craneman for CF& I Steel Corp, retiring in 1978 after 28 years of service . A life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Member of the Central Christian
Church where he had served as an elder. His greatest love was animals, especially his Pomeranians. At his request there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward
Crematorium. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2000, at the Montgomery
& Steward Chapel with Reverend Ray Hawkins and Dr. David Chambers officiating. Inurnment will
follow in the Veterans Court of Honor, Imperial Memorial Gardens. The family respectfully requests no food or flowers.
