Gary Allen Long, loving husband, father, son and brother fought a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) passing away on March 30, 2022, in Pueblo West surrounded by family. Gary was born on October 2, 1965, in Glenwood Springs, Colo. and spent much of his life traveling throughout the world as part of his decorated military career, retiring from the United States Marine Corps in 2006, after 22 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant.

Gary enjoyed his most recent years as a resident of Pueblo West, Colo. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family, camping, traveling, and finding humor wherever it hid. He was always good for an encouraging word and a smile, his vibrant spirit radiating among those lucky enough to call him “family” or “friend.”

Gary had a very fun-loving personality always making jokes and enjoying a good laugh. He always wanted to take the scenic route and loved driving. Gary loved good food and was a terrific cook. He was generous and service-oriented. He wasn’t perfect and was as stubborn as they come but worked hard, gave freely, kept chivalry alive, held onto his faith tightly and loved with his whole heart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Long of Colorado; children, Luke (Kelly) Long of Texas, Clint (Claire) Long of Texas, Kyle Marian of Utah, Ashley (Den) Jones of Utah, Kayla (Skylar) Perkins of Utah, Cody Long of Utah, Amber Marian of Colorado, Cheyenne Long of Utah and Ryklinn Long of Colorado; mother, Linda Long of Colorado; siblings, Mike Long of Nevada, Sheila (Randy) Hoffman and Celeste (Drew ) Avery of Idaho; seven grandkids; many nieces and nephews; as well as cousins, aunts and uncles.
