Florence Marie Abbate

Florence M. Abbate, 88, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2018. Predeceased by her loving husband, Warren; and sister, Dorothy Skoff. Survived by daughters, Alysia (Ron) Ivan and Claudia (John) Craig; grandchildren, Alex (Jill) Ivan, Tessa Ivan and Erin (Devin Lynch) Craig; and great-grandsons, Peter Ivan and Joseph Lynch. Florence was born on Jan. 21, 1930, and had a career as a registered nurse. She performed her nursing duties for a number of years in a variety of ways: as a nurse in a doctor's office and in the hospital, as a school nurse, a teacher of nursing at PCC and at a nursing home. Florence will always be remembered for her dry sense of humor and impeccable taste in clothes, accessories and holiday decorating. The family would like to thank the residents and staff at Primrose Retirement Community for surrounding Florence with love and friendship for the past three and one half years and the staff at Frontier Hospice for making the last few months of her life comfortable. A memorial Mass will be celebrated, 10 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018, at St. Mary Parish, 307 E. Mesa Ave. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Frontier Hospice, 4718 N.
