Fern B. Wertz, 95, born April 7, 1913, in Horace, Kans., passed away Oct. 5, 2008, in Pueblo. Survived by her children, Vera Yates of Eaton, Colo., Bob D. (Judy) Wertz of Pueblo and Kenneth (Cheri) Wertz of Pueblo; daughter-in-law, Diane (Dean) Allen of Pueblo; sisters, Velma Graves and Vicki Miller, both of Kansas; brother, Don Moore of Greeley; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Cecil L. Wertz; son, Dick L. Wertz; daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Ray Moroney; son-in-law, John Yates; parents, John and Olive Moore; and sister, Vesta Wall. Fern (and Cecil) were like a second set or parents when I was young. Ken and I were very close friends and while time and space caused us to grow apart, I still remember many fond memories of traveling with the Wertzs. Fern was always so patient with us wild young guys and I loved her very much. I am so sorry that her passing escaped my notice but, Ken, wherever you are, know that I remember you and your folks often and the wonderful times we had together.
