Faustin Benavidez

Faustin Benavidez, 88, passed away August 22, 2000. Survived by his children, Carmen (Nick) Baca and Victoria (Dan) Aragon; daughter-in-law, Elsie Benavidez; siblings, Luciano (Antonia) Benavidez and Rafelita (Onecimo) Padilla, all of Pueblo; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Steve (Cora) Arguello of Denver; and sister-in-law, Evasita Baca of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Benavidez on June 16, 1993; son, Nestor Benavidez on May 31, 1996; brothers, Jesus Benavidez and Antonio Benavidez; sister, Raymonsita Benavidez; grandchild, Sam Garza; great grandchild, Albert Baca. Faustin was born to Nestor and Agapita (nee Saiz) Benavidez on July 9, 1912, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He and Gertrude Arguello were married on April 18, 1932, in Lagunita, New Mexico. They moved to Pueblo in 1959. Faustin retired from St. Mary Corwin Hospital in 1983. He will lie in state today at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2000, at the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Reverend Ben Martinez officiating. Interment will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends and relatives at the Montgomery & Steward Reception Hall following the interment.
