Eugene Allen Barnes, 79, of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away Oct. 18, 2006. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty J. Barnes; sons, Mark (Judy) Barnes of Littleton, Colo., Brian (Diana) Barnes of Las Vegas, Nev. and Timothy Barnes of Pueblo; and grandchildren, Jessica, Douglas, Dairus and Dylan Barnes. Eugene was born to Dairus and Floy Jeanette Barnes on Dec. 18, 1926, in Pueblo. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad as a switchman/conductor in 1990. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Chaplain Rollie Gill officiating. Private interment, Ft. Logan National Cemetery.   1. I hope I have the correct gentleman. I use to listen to “Barnes” on KCSJ radio. He would call in every day. I got to know him through radio. I really feel like I knew him. I have missed hearing him on the radio. He really brightened my day. He was a lot of fun and had a great sense of humor. I’m sorry he is gone, but I am happy he touched my life and others through radio.
