Esther Frances 'Fran' Rieck, 98, passed away February 19, 2004, in Pueblo, Colo. Survived by her daughter, Nancy (Terry) Bailey of Littleton, Colo.; sister, Roberta Campbell of La Junta; grandchildren, Gregg (Bobbi) Bailey of Aurora, Colo., Jeff Bailey of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Julie (Ken) Pinkston of Wellington, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Casi, Kyli, Kendal and Kellany Bailey and Daniel and Rachel Pinkston; cousin, Adeline Macaulay; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd M. Rieck on July 20, 1977; daughter, Mary Frances on December 17, 1934; two brothers; and two sisters. Born to Thomas and Mary Macaulay, April 30, 1905, in Raton, New Mexico. Fran graduated from La Junta High School in 1923 and married Lloyd on December 24, 1924. While living in La Junta, she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chivington Chapter 32, and other local organizations. After moving to Pueblo in 1978, Mrs. Rieck continued to travel the world, a hobby she enjoyed with her husband prior to his death. When she was no longer able to travel, handwork and crafts occupied her time. The recipients of her many projects were the residents in the Villa/Pavilion as well as the employees therein. She also enjoyed attending vespers at the Villa. At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 1:30 p.m., Sunday, February 29, 2004, at the Montgomery & Steward Chapel, 1317 N. Main St., in Pueblo, with the Reverend Ray Hawkins officiating. Mrs. Rieck will be laid to rest in the Monte Vista Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of food or flowers, those who desire may make a memorials to First Baptist Church of La Junta or the Colorado Boys Ranch through the funeral home.
