Resided in: Pueblo, CO

Elnora 'Polly' Willcox passed away on July 5, 2007. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Lynne (Leonard) Harvey, Jack Willcox and Matt (Peggy) Willcox; her grandchildren, Russell (Wendy) Harvey, Matthew, Kyle and Jessica Willcox; and her great-grandchildren, Nydia, Daniel and Alyssa Harvey. Also surviving are her cousin, J. W. Sneeringer; nephews, Ed and John Brown; and nieces, Betty Ann Poe and Mary Lee Gorman and their families. The daughter of Thomas and Nora Brown, Elnora was born in Harrison, Arkansas, on February 18, 1923. Upon the death of her parents in 1930, she came to Pueblo to live with her uncle, John Sneeringer. As a young girl, she attended the Guilliford Academy for Young Ladies, a Pueblo boarding school. In 1941, she graduated from Central High School and married William Harry Willcox. Elnora is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her uncle, John; and siblings, Clyde Brown, Florence Baker, Vern Brown, Ruby Dixon, Sceva Miller, Mildred Nicholas and Heber Brown. Elnora worked for many years at the Northside Arapahoe store, then began working at the Colorado State Hospital. She obtained her nursing degree from SCSC in 1970. After 32 years of dedicated service as a lead nurse, Elnora retired in 1988 from the State Hospital. She was grateful for the many good friends she worked with and enjoyed keeping in touch with them after she retired. Elnora was an excellent cook who lovingly made special dinners for her family and prepared abundant feasts for birthdays, picnics and cookouts. She loved gardening and her well tended yard was always full of blooming flowers and plants. Spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest joy and they will always remember her delight, and theirs, at spending the summers with Grandma, going for walks, shopping, cleaning, eating ice cream, and watching Disney and Star Wars movies with them. Among the many lessons she taught them how to work hard and appreciate the finer things in life. She gave constant and unconditional love and support. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Kunstle for his kindness and the staff at the Chateau at Sharmar for their loving, compassionate care. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Friends and relatives will be received at 84 Purdue immediately following the service.
