Ellen Ruth Bassett transitioned from this life into her new life on August 31, 2012, after a battle with lung disease. She is survived by the love of her life, Walter L Bassett. Walt and Ellen were married for 57 happy years. The pride of her life, her children, Nancy (Craig) Crosson, Walter Jr. (Kathy) Bassett and Vickie Bassett Brusig. The joy of her life, her grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Habrat, Sayra (Vanessa) Bassett, Brian (Kristen) Crosson, Christina Brusig, Jeff Crosson, Nicholas Bassett, Sarah Brusig and Andrew Brusig. Her special joy, great-grandson, Craig Thomas Habrat. Her loving sister, Corinne Wilson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Claire Bassett, John and Mable Bassett; seven nieces and five nephews.Predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Jamieson; brother, Andy; father and mother-in-law, Ellsworth and Lillian Bassett; and brother-in-law, Earl Wilson. Ellen was an active volunteer during her lifetime. Her passion was her church which she served at all levels. She was a member of Chapter FW P.E.O. and many other organizations. Ellen owned and operated The Card Cottage, a Hallmark store where she made many friends. She liked to play games with her bridge friends on Friday, her mahjong friends on Monday and her longtime bowling buddies on Wednesday. She had the reputation of teaching her grandkids 'No Mercy' when playing games. Walt and Ellen were worldwide travelers and have been in all 50 states. She particularly enjoyed their trips in their motor home. Please wear bright colors and celebrate her life at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the Beulah United Methodist Church, 5903 Pennsylvania Ave., in Beulah.     You do not know me, but some years ago after my husband’s passing, I met Ellen at bowling. She was so kind and sweet to me that I have never forgotten it. In the years since I have enjoyed seeing her always, even tho it was just on Wednesday morning.
