Eleanor Rose (Mauro) Rusler, 92.

April 22, 1930 ~ March 24, 2023

Sweet, loving, thoughtful, generous, understanding, happy and fiercely loyal are some of the qualities that defined Eleanor. These qualities gave her the unique gift of making everyone around her feel special and loved.

Born to Henry and Rose Mauro, she grew up on a farm in Vineland owned by her Italian immigrant grandparents Pasquale and Carmella Mauro. On the farm, she worked harvesting, cleaning, and preparing vegetables for delivery. Through this, her parents taught her honesty, generosity, and how to work hard; traits she carried with her the rest of her life.

Growing up, Eleanor loved to read and play the piano. In 1948, she graduated from Lakeside-Vineland High School. On April 15, 1950, Eleanor married the love of her life, “Billy” Rusler. Their relationship began with a kiss on the bus after a basketball game. Over the years, she treasured her time spent traveling with him. At the time of Bill’s passing, they had been blessed with 70 beautiful years of marriage.

As a partner in the family business, Eleanor was key to its success because of her ability to nurture relationships with employees, their families and customers alike.

Eleanor was a lifelong active member of St. Theresa Church in Vineland as well as an associate member of St. Mary Corwin’s Auxiliary. She volunteered frequently and dedicated her life to doing for and giving to others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her parents-in-law Paul and Sara Rusler. She is survived by her children Bill (Carol), Tom (Lynn), Bob (Maryann), Brian (Rhonda) Rusler, Roseann (Sean) Foster, sister Marilou (Joe) Pisciotta, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), one great great-granddaughter, as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her faithful feline companion, Primrose.

The family gives very special thanks to Eleanor’s patient and loving caretakers over the years, in addition to her hospice nurse Amy Rose, Dr. Michelle Kowalis, Dr. Roger Davis, Mary Jean Mauro, Donnie Mauro and the members of Vineland United Methodist Church.

Visitation, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 29th, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral Mass, 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30th, at St. Joseph’s Church followed by a graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery. At the reception following the graveside service, guests will have the opportunity to share stories about Eleanor. Those who wish to do so may make donations to the Eleanor Rose Nursing Scholarship through the funeral home which will go towards furthering her caretakers nursing education or to the charity of their choice. 1. Our family was so privileged to know and share special moments with Eleanor over the years. She brought such joy and light to every relationship, and loved those grandbabies, and great-grandbabies so very much. She would show us the trees planted for each one of them. Much like the trees, she and Bill provided strong roots for their very large & expanding family. Sending prayers.

Many times your lovely mother would come to the barber shop with Bill. She was always so gracious and pleasant, with a huge, warm smile for everyone. The love and devotion your parents had for each other was obvious, something we should all be so lucky to experience. I know life has been a struggle for her for the last several years, but now she’s free, reunited with her dear Bill. God bless you all.
