Edith C. Bernstein, 85, formerly of Salida, Colo., passed away March 31, 2011, in Pueblo West, Colo. Survived by sons, Thomas (Donna) Bernstein of Pueblo West and Timothy (Kathy) Bernstein of Colorado Springs, Colo; grandchildren, Kyle, Michelle, Christopher (Serena) and Jeffrey; brother, Hartmut Reichhold of Austria; sister, Karin (Josef) Schwaighofer, of Austria and special friends, Evan, Kiya and Taylor. She was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Essington, Pa., to Richard and Maria Baier. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and also the Odd Fellows. She loved to sew and knit. At her request there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Parkhill Baptist Church, 4235 Parkhill Place, in Pueblo. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Sange de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005. Online condolences, www.montgomerysteward.com.

  1. To the family of Edith Bernstein,I am so sorry for your loss. Having worked for Safeway in Salida for 34 years, I knew Edith for many of those years. She was a wonderful and funny lady who would never fail to speak her mind. She always had a joke or a little wisdom to share with me. She was usually the bright spot in my day. I will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
