“Your beauty comes from inside you. It is the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. Beauty like that doesn’t fade away. God places great value on it.” Peter 3:4
Our beautiful wife and mother, Dorothy Mae (Wright) Cowley sadly passed away on July 8, 2022.
Dorothy was born in Pueblo, Colorado on May 31, 1940, and lived in Lubbock, Texas throughout her childhood. She married Earl William Cowley in Lubbock on April 2, 1960. They made their home in Pueblo, Colorado. Dorothy earned an Associates degree in education. She ran a daycare in her home caring for many children over the years.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Earl Cowley and five children: Tesse Kramer (Randall), Vincent Cowley (Nancy), Kimberly Morgan (Robert), Audrey Slorf (Larry) and Patricia Brown (Michael). She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren (three of their spouses) and one great-grandchild. Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant son, Victor Cowley, parents, Robert L. and Clara Wright, sister, Phyllis Nowell and brother, P.F.C. Robert J. Wright.
Dorothy was a skilled and creative seamstress, needleworker and cake decorator creating innumerable special items for her family and friends throughout her life. She was an avid bird watcher always happy to spend time in nature. Nothing brought her more joy than her family. Dorothy was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating special traditions and precious happy memories that we will always cherish.
A private burial service took place at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please keep the family in your prayers.
I first met Dorothy and later Earl at Beehive Salon with our good friend Glenda Hawken who did our hair. A group of us girls went to have our hair done every Friday and became close friends for a number of years. We had so much fun, we’d laugh and cry together, share goodies, exchange gifts at Christmas.
When my mom passed away, Dorothy made memory bears for me, a lot of them. She will be missed so very much, her smile and laugh.
Sending prayers of comfort to Earl and his family that all of your memories will give you comfort at this time.
Dorothy was my babysitter for many years. I have the fondest of memories with her. I break my heart to hear this news. She was such a joy and taught me so many things. I still make pb&j’s just like she did because it reminds me of her. My greatest sympathies to her family. She was truly a light.
I’m so sorry for your loss, praying God’s comfort, peace and strength for all the family!🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️
My deepest sympathy over your sudden loss. May God surround you and provide you with peace and love.
Sorry for your loss Earl and to the family !! May the Lord be with all of you !!
So sorry to read of Dorothy’s passing. As a teacher at Vineland Elementary, I had the pleasure to meet her when working with Tesse and Vincent. Sending prayers and hugs to all! May the memories of the good times give you all some comfort and peace.
