Dorothy Mae Mansfield, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, with her loving daughters by her side. Dorothy was born March 1, 1939, to Harry and Anna Hess in Des Moines, Iowa. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth; brother-in-law, Bill and husband, Richard. Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Richard on September 22, 1962. This union blessed them with four children. Richard preceded her in death on August 24, 2005. Dorothy spent 30 years as an RN caring for the elderly until she and Richard followed their dreams and moved their family to Colorado in 1991. They proudly owned and operated Greenhorn Valley True Value for 10 years before selling it to their children. Her gentle spirit, her unfailing love for the Lord and her family made her treasured by so many. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Martin (Colleen) Mansfield, MaryAnn (Gary) Hillyer, William (Krysti) Mansfield, Patricia (Darrel) Proctor, all of Colorado City. Beloved grandchildren: Justin, Alea, Taylor, Jenna, Mikala, Abbigail, Zackariah, Zoey, Ella Jo, Taylor, Kevin, Darrek, Dustin, Courtney and Caitlyn. Great grandchildren: Tenisyn, Lachlan, Tristan and Gabe. Her treasured sister: Mary Anne May and beloved niece Carol Ann (Richard) Estes. The family would like to invite you to a gathering in her honor Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, 3:30-6:00 p.m. at Greenhorn Meadows Park in Colorado City. Due to COVID-19 restriction, there will be a private funeral Saturday at St. Aloysius Church in Rye, CO.
May our God comfort those who love you for your work with the elderly and for your gentle character.
